This page is for developers comparing AllRatesToday (allratestoday.com) with fxapi as an AllRatesToday alternative. AllRatesToday is a UK-based service founded in 2026. It offers paid plans from €4.99 a month with one-minute updates on every paid plan, a Business plan with official rates from central banks and tax authorities, output as JSON, CSV, XML or XLSX, and SDKs plus an MCP server. fxapi is the better fit when you need a clearly defined free plan with historical data, fluctuation and IAS 21 period averages, history back to 1999 for every currency, or crypto and precious metals in the same API.

Where fxapi is different
A free plan with history and analytics
fxapi’s Free plan is 300 requests a month with daily historical rates back to 1999, fluctuation and period averages. AllRatesToday’s pricing page excludes historical rates and commercial use on its free plan, and its pages describe the free allowance in different ways.
IAS 21 averages in one request
/v1/average returns monthly, quarterly or yearly averages with min and max per currency, as JSON or CSV – the translation rates finance teams need for accounting and reporting. AllRatesToday documents no averages endpoint.
History for every currency since 1999
All 190+ fxapi codes have daily data from 1 January 1999 on every plan, so long backtests and multi-year reports use one consistent series.
Crypto and precious metals
16 cryptocurrencies and gold, silver, platinum and palladium use the same endpoints as fiat – see the crypto and gold and silver pages.
Volume at 60-second updates
Professional includes 600,000 requests a month with 60-second updates for $34.99, Enterprise 1,700,000 for $74.99. At AllRatesToday, the largest listed market-rate plan includes 100,000 requests for €49.99.

Response shape
AllRatesToday’s rates endpoint returns an array of objects with rate, source, target and time. fxapi returns one object: meta.last_updated_at and a data map keyed by currency code, where each entry has code and value. Errors use HTTP status codes in both; fxapi adds 422 with an errors object per invalid parameter.
